85 years of Volunteer Fire Department of Grzybów
This year, the Volunteer Fire Department of Grzybów celebrated its 85th anniversary of active duty. The anniversary ceremonies were held on July 16 in Grzybów. The ceremonies served as an opportunity to officially open the new and improved VFD headquarters - rebuilt thanks to the efforts of Municipality of Staszów - and to give the department a brand new fire engine, acquired in Nisko by mayor of Staszów, Leszek Kopeć. Representatives of every single VFD from the entire Municipality of Staszów participated in the anniversary ceremonies in Grzybów. There were various other guests, including the representatives of autonomy of Staszów: mayor Leszek Kopeć, deputy mayor Ewa Kondek, and Town Council representatives headed by the Council president Ireneusz Kwiecjasz. Also present were members of the Polish national Parliament: Michał Cieślak, Krystian Jarubas, Krzysztof Lipiec.
Firefighters of Grzybów received many kind words from the gathering of guests. Parliament members Krzysztof Lipiec and Krystian Jarubas wished them the best and thanked them for their excellent service. Michał Cieślak declared that he had obtained 10,000 złoty for buying additional equipment for the VFD in Grzybów. Mayor Leszek Kopeć thanked all firemen for their unwavering firefighter's ethic and contined service for the good of their local community. As further proof of his immense respect, mayor Kopeć gave the Grzybów firefighters a diploma from the autonomy of Staszów. The anniversary ceremonies were concluded with a banquet.
